I find one of the most brilliant things about the internet to be that it enables people to contribute to causes-without spending money or even much time! (Guess someone knew how skint and/or lazy most of us are...) Below are some links to a few of those sites, as well as others I've participated with. If you have a site you'd like me to link to, send me the info and I'll be happy to look into it.
The Hunger Site - "To date, more than 200 million visitors have given more than 300 million cups of staple food."
The Breast Cancer Site - "The Breast Cancer Site was founded to help offer free mammograms to women in need — women for whom early detection would not otherwise be possible."
The Child Health Site - "The Child Health Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — saving children's lives and improving the quality of their health."
The Literacy Site - "The Literacy Site was founded to help promote literacy among children from low-income families nationwide."
The Rainforest Site - "In just its first year of operation (2000), The Rainforest Site generated funds to purchase and preserve over 5,650 acres of endangered land."
The Animal Rescue Site - "Each click at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary."
Alternative Gifts International - "The global mission of AGI is to send authentic, life-giving gifts to a needy world - gifts that build a partnership with people in crisis and that protect and preserve the earth's endangered environment - to nourish and sustain a more equitable and peaceful global community."
The Mr.Holland's Opus Foundation - "The MHOF supports music education and its many benefits through the donation of new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved school and community music programs and individual students nationwide.”
